Vickie Fergason - Franklin Elementary School

Vickie is girl Monday-Friday.  She does so many things for all FES staff - from baking her delicious delights to organizing "fun" activities to keep spirits up.  She is always able to fix a computer, tutor a child, print up a poster or nurse one of our kiddos.  Vickie is always busy doing something for someone else.  The students and staff alike love her!

SchoolCenter Picture  Daisy Abreu - Hillsboro Elementary School

Daisy has gone above and beyond this year at HES - especially with art!  She initiated, organized and continues to build our second grade Art Club which is very successful.  Daisy has created original artwork for many of the HES functions and activities such as homecoming and AttenDANCE).   She was a key organizer and tremendous asset during our recent performance of Night and Movement.  A well rounded Art program has benefitted the students in many ways.  HES is very glad to have Ms. Abreu on our team!

SchoolCenter Picture  Christa Falwell - Hillsboro Intermediate School

Christa is always willing to step up and do whatever is needed.  She organizes for the 6th grade team and plans activities for the whole team.  Christa also takes time to build relationships with HIS students.  She talks to them one on one about the choices they make and how their choices will affect their future.  Christa is the go-to person on the 6th grade team.  Every 6th grade student has benefited from the clear-thinking attitude of Mrs. Fallwell.

SchoolCenter PictureLarry Powell - Hillsboro Jr. High School

Coach Powell has volunteered many hours and much effort toward making HJHS the best campus it can be.  On top of his coaching responsibilities, he has modeled a true service leader for HJHS students and fellow faculty members.  He serves as the student council sponsor and works with that group on several fund raising projects.  He organized a group to illustrate and paint the signs in the windows of Doughty Hall which not only makes that building look better but it provides some history to our students about what it means to be a Hillsboro Eagle.  He has been a good role model for HISD students and continues to be a great leader among our faculty.  His effort has had a direct effect on the campus culture by shaping it in a way that makes it a better place for all.

Kelly Hestand - Hillsboro High School

Kelly goes above and beyond expectations to ensure that all students are successful.  She continuously builds solid relationships with students that promote student achievement.  Kelly is deeply invested in the academic growth and accomplishment of each of her students.  This year there has been a tremendous growth in benchmark scores and students' academic success. Students remark that they finally understand math, and now math seems easy.  The number of students passing the exit level math retest has drastically increased due to Kelly's hard work and dedication to her students.

Glen Brown - Maintenance & Transportation

Glen is always ready to help out when he is needed.  Even when he is called at the last minute on a Saturday to drive a trip he is ready and willing to go.  He cares about the safety of each and every student in his care.  It's more than just a job for him.  Students do not miss the experience of the activity that the trip provides because of Glen's diligence.  In addition, the students feel safe on his bus and know that he cares about them.

Keith Hendrix - District Award

In the short time Coach Hendrix has been in HISD, the athletic program has made many positive changes.  Coach Hendrix cares about each individual athlete and works closely with the coaches and other teachers to ensure students strive for academic, as well as athletic success.  Last month, HISD had more students participating in regional track events than we've had in many years.  Parents, community members, and other districts have noticed and commented on the change in participation, effort, and presentation of our athletes.  This speaks volumes about Coach Hendrix's leadership and concern for our students.  HISD athletes know the meaning of the word 'team', give their best effort, and do not give up.  A change in attitude can change a student's ultimate path or goal in life.  Eagle pride has returned!
