Skills USA

  • SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). Its mission is to help its members become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

Any student enrolled in a building trades class at HHS can participate. Build days are scheduled at various times from November through February and are held at the woodshop. District competition is held in early February at Texas State Technical College in Waco. State competition is held in either Fort Worth or Corpus Christi in late March or April.
