Athletics

The athletics program at HISD complements and contributes to the overall educational process. Student athletes learn the invaluable lessons of personal integrity, determination, self-confidence, proper mental attitude, individual and group responsibilities, and the desire to achieve high goals, which should be the objectives of any sound educational system. The program insists on high standards for its members and stresses the value and necessity of discipline, hard work, and dedication toward a team goal to achieve consistent success.

Friday Night Football Reminders

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This Friday, September 12th, is the first Hillsboro High School Varsity Home Football Game of the 2025 season. Friday night football is an excellent opportunity to gather with family, neighbors, and your community to show school spirit and pride! We invite you and your family to wear our school colors (Maroon and White) to Friday's games.

Please review the following guidelines. These will be enforced to ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable:

  • Children in 6th grade and younger must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian to enter the stadium.
  • All students will be seated in the designated student areas (jr. high/ high school) or with their parents for the entire game.
  • Students will NOT be allowed to run around during the game.
  • Only those guests who have purchased “Reserved” tickets will be allowed into the “Reserved” section, and that ticket must be presented to gain entry or re-entry each time.
  • Students and guests should not slide under the rail between sections.
  • All stairs, walkways, and ramps must be kept clear at all times. Adults and children will be seated in a designated seat to avoid blocking traffic or causing someone to fall.

We appreciate your ongoing support of our district and students! You can help us keep Friday Night Football a fun, safe option for our families and community.

We look forward to seeing you cheering on our Hillsboro Fighting Eagles!

Sincerely,

Hillsboro ISD Athletics

Important - New Law Impacts UIL Athletic Events

As we kick off the start of the 2025–2026 school year, we want to inform you about a significant change in Texas law that will impact all University Interscholastic League (UIL) athletic events.

New Law: Senate Bill 2929
Effective 2025-2026 school year, Senate Bill 2929 amends Section 37.105 of the Texas Education Code. This legislation grants game officials, referees, and judges at UIL-sanctioned extracurricular athletic activities the authority to eject spectators without issuing a prior verbal warning. Previously, officials were required to give a verbal warning and observe persistent inappropriate behavior before removal. Under the new law, a SINGLE INSTANCE of disruptive behavior is sufficient grounds for ejection.

What Does This Mean for You??
This change emphasizes the importance of maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for our student-athletes, coaches, and officials. Disruptive behaviors such as verbal harassment, aggressive conduct, or any actions that interfere with the orderly conduct of the game may result in immediate removal from the event. If a spectator is removed from an event under this law, it may result in a prohibition from attending any athletic events for the remainder of the school year. This underscores the seriousness of maintaining respectful behavior at all times.

How Can You Help??
* Model Good Sportsmanship: Encourage positive cheering and support for all participants.
* Respect Officials and Coaches: Understand that officials are there to ensure a fair and safe competition.
* Be Mindful of Your Behavior: Avoid actions or language that could be perceived as disruptive or disrespectful.

We appreciate your cooperation in fostering a positive atmosphere at our Hillsboro Athletic events. Your support plays a crucial role in the success and enjoyment of our student-athletes.

If you have any questions or concerns about this new policy, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your understanding and commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship and respect.

Sincerely,

Coach Courtney Hewitt
