About

The Hillsboro ISD Education Foundation partners with the community to provide resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and maximize innovative opportunities for all students in the district.

With regular state educational funding not meeting the rising cost of education, the support of the Foundation ensures the district's ability to support vital academic opportunities for HISD students.

The goals of the Foundation are to:

  • Strengthen and enrich learning through the development of innovative programs

  • Support additional training and resources for educators of the Hillsboro Independent School District

  • Provide the tools to prepare students for future success

  • Inspire parents and community members to participate with the school system to enrich education

  • Build community support and positive attention for the Hillsboro Independent School District

Kaiti Firkins, Director

Kaiti Firkins serves as the Director of the Hillsboro ISD Education Foundation and the district's HR Coordinator. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Baylor University and an MBA in Organizational Behavior and HR Management from the University of North Texas.

Before moving into administration, Kaiti spent 5 years in TV news as an anchor and reporter, then transitioned to public education, working 6 years as a 4th-grade Language Arts and Reading teacher. Kaiti is passionate about the stability and growth of local public education. Her journey from the newsroom to the classroom has given her a unique perspective on the vital role reading and writing skills play in a student's day-to-day success.

Kaiti believes that every student should have the opportunity to become a lifelong learner. Her primary objective is to use data-driven decision-making and strategic techniques to evaluate policies and build programs that directly benefit the students and staff of Hillsboro ISD.

Outside of the office, Kaiti lives in Mount Calm on eight acres with her partner, Ryan. They maintain a large vegetable garden and a greenhouse built from old windows. When she isn't gardening, Kaiti enjoys rooting for the Baylor Bears, reading novels, and walking her two rescue dogs, Wade and Lola.
